Twigg’s Directory of 1001 BC Writers (Crown Publications 1992)
Aware of the profusion of authors in the province of British Columbia, and how little this literary outpouring was recognized in schools, Alan Twigg decided to produce a compendium of thumbnail references that would show the collective strength of B.C. literature.
This result was an unprecedented guide designed for the likes of librarians, media and teachers. Almost nobody in B.C. had any idea the province had 1,001 authors—all living.
This book would eventually serve as a stepping stone for Twigg’s creation of the ABCBookWorld reference site, hosted by Simon Fraser University, with comprehensive information for and about more than 8,500 B.C. authors. (www.abcbookworld.com).
