As a continuation of For Openers (1981), after it went out of print, Strong Voices (1988) adds to the list of author interviews that Alan Twigg conducted over the years as a literary journalist.
Some of the material in this book also appeared in Quill & Quire, Books in Canada, Dandelion, the Province, Georgia Straight and BC BookWorld.
Some were aired on the CBC-FM program Audience. Some of the additional authors include Pierre Berton, Timothy Findley, Mavis Gallant, George Bowering, Anne Cameron, Brian Fawcett, Gary Geddes, W.P. Kinsella, Patrick Lane, W.O. Mitchell and Audrey Thomas.
