Conceived and managed by Alan Twigg, www.abcbookworld.com is a public service project to spread awareness of the literary activity in the province of Canada with the highest per capita book reading rate in the country. The public reference site—for and about more than 9,000 authors and their books—is a free, separately-operated offshoot of B.C. BookWorld, the quarterly newspaper established in 1987. The ongoing partnership and technical support of Simon Fraser University has been essential. As well as providing biographical summaries and bibliographies, abcbookworld contains thousands of photos, essays and transcripts of interviews. New book info is added daily to keep pace with almost every new book that is published for, by and about British Columbians. There is no overall literary history of British Columbia—except the abcbookworld archive.

Conceived and managed by Alan Twigg, B.C. BookWorld is a public service newspaper about books and authors pertaining to British Columbia. Published quarterly (March, June, September, November) since 1987, B.C. BookWorld is the largest-circulation independent publication about books in Canada. It is distributed by more than 700 outlets to approximately 100,000 readers per issue. It’s decidedly different: it is designed to get as much information as possible, about as many books as possible, to as many people as possible. It does so in a lively tab format with a non-elitist style. B.C. BookWorld is supported by Pacific BookWorld News Society and designed by David Lester of Mecca Normal and Get To The Point Graphics. “In all sincerity,” said legendary publisher Jack McClelland, “let me say that I have never before encountered a book journal as engaging as B.C. BookWorld.”
